Dr. Anna-Lena Högenauer is an Associate Professor in political science at the University of Luxembourg with a focus on European Union politics and European comparative politics. She has been Director of the master’s in European governance since 2022.
She holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Edinburgh and an MA in EuropeanPolitical and Administrative Studies from the College of Europe. At the King’s College London she obtained her BA in European Studies.
Her research focuses on democracy, legitimacy and transparency in European Union politics, on small states in EU politics and on the role of women in politics.She is the co-editor of the Routledge series Small State Studies and a member of the editorial boards of the journals Small States & Territories and Politics and Governance.
Recent publications include special issues on parliamentary staff and on the evolving role of the European Central Bank as well as books on the Benelux and on Small States in EU Policy-making.She is co-editor of the following publications:
