Amb. Conzemius

Arlette Conzemius brings a combination of diplomatic, defence and academic experience.

Her diplomatic career spanned over four decades.

In 1993, she became Luxembourg’s first female ambassador, taking up her posting to the Council of Europe (Strasbourg).

She had successive postings in Brussels, Strasbourg, Washington, Vienna, Ankara, and again Brussels, as Ambassador to Belgium and Permanent Representative to NATO.

She also served at the Foreign Ministry in Luxembourg as Director General for European Affairs and Bilateral Economic Relations.

Her career encompassed both bilateral and multilateral diplomacy and covered a broad range of issues, including European integration, transatlantic relations, human rights, international security and defence.

She currently serves as an external lecturer in the master’s programme in European Governance at the University of Luxembourg.

She holds an undergraduate degree in Political Science from the Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva and a master's degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at Tufts University.
